Ginny Mucciaccio

Name: - Virginia Anne Ledegang Mucciaccio (now that's a mouthful)

Nickname: - "Ginny"; grandkids call me "Nonnie"; My German grandmother called me "Ginny Anne Gang".
Granddaughter of: -
Harry Fisher Woods & Bertha Pankratia Herrmann
Daniel Ledegang & Petronella Beckman
Occupation: - Executive Secretary/Office Manager for the MA Society of Mayflower Descendants- also its Past Governor
Email or website: - ginny@treesinthewoods.com
Current Residence: - Dedham, Massachusetts for 56 years
Hobbies or other interests: - Where do I start? - in the beginning it was all kinds of handwork; made hundreds of dancing costumes, sewed for myself & my girls, made curtains & drapes; did alterations for many years as well as some dressmaking; sang, danced, performed in skits, and made costumes for several Dedham High School Booster Club shows; made many cheerleaders outfits; ran dances & suppers for Pop Warner football, Little League baseball, and Dedham Youth Hockey and the Booster Club; was a Town Meeting Member for 15 years; AND THEN, I became interested in and joined too many lineage societies- nigh on to 20 if I count right. Therein lies the genealogical tale. Have attended hundreds of my kids' and my grandkids' games & swim meets- best times of my life- a few still going on. Working on another Irish pattern afghan- have completed three of the possible eight I hope to finish (if I live long enough) so each of my grandkids will have something heirloom quality to remember me by. Doesn't leave too much time for housework?? Now a lot of the social activities from the past are replaced by sitting in front of this little box that lights up and does wonderful crazeee things.
Children: - Nancy, 55, Danny, 53, Rick, 51, and Laurie, 49.
Grandchildren: - Tara, Tracy, Tom, Trav, and the late Tina True; Ricky Mucciaccio; and Erik, Patrick III, and Jessica Donnamarie Brennan.
Career Highlight(s): - Have always worked part-time since 1964, so no outstanding achievements in this direction. First priorities were being a wife and mother, and then grandmother.

Lifetime Highlights/Achievements: - Probably having four beautiful, healthy babies, and having the complete joy that comes with grandchildren. And with that, I should add, friends- in our years of marriage, we had so many wonderful friends- I still have one very special friend from grammar school- since 1937- and some of my Pop Warner "girl" friends since 1959 that I still see.

When my husband was alive, we had three trips that encompassed Italy, Austria, Switzerland & France; we had two family trips to California (Los Angeles area) to visit my parents when the kids were young- spent a month each time up to San Francisco, the Redwoods, east to Las Vegas, the Canyon, south to Mexico; all of us went to Miami to visit with my Dad and his mother (age 90) & extended family; went to Holland with my sister to visit our Dad's homeland, ending with the Rhine cruise & a drive into Bavaria; went to Alaska with my sister retracing the steps our great-grandfather took when he sought his fortune in gold- visited with Sally Woods Hudson & Bessie Woods Wiley; took an unforgettable trip to England and Holland retracing the Pilgrim Father's steps and some of their beginnings. Have made many trips to other societies' rendezvous, and trips to Mayflower Annual meetings as the MA representative in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Delaware, Denver, San Antonio, and of course to Plymouth. Last year I was invited to become a member of The National Gavel Society, a true honor and privilege.

When did you become interested in genealogy?: - Not too seriously in the beginning- had four small babies (in 6 1/2 years) and not much time to indulge. I joined DAR in 1960, and added the other genealogical groups gradually, each time finding new lines. About ten years ago, the Wyman family genealogist asked me if I would do some documentation for him- little did I know what I was getting into; however, it was a true learning experience, and I did nearly 400 HOURS of research for him.
Most significant genealogy accomplishment: - The Wyman research.
Other thoughts or information you wish to share: - Just the thought of the little miracle of Michele coming back into the picture- not a word from the Wileys since 1994- and the connection with Rick- across two continents- and what the two of them have accomplished in just a couple of weeks. It truly boggles my mind. And here I sit like the pickle in the middle.
