Career Highlight(s): - Three Years – US Army Europe; Postmaster Clear, Alaska; Postmaster Ruby, Alaska; former Mayor of Ruby, Alaska; After School Program teacher of computer skills at the Galena City School District.
Lifetime Highlights/Achievements: - Growing up it was my dream to travel the world; I have seen most of Europe and I traveled to Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia and traveled western United States and Canada. I have skied the Swiss, Austrian, German and Italian Alps. I have skied in 8 western states in the US. I have been to the Marti Gras in New Orleans and the Octoberfest in Munich Germany. I have seen over half of Alaska on a motorcycle. I went from Fairbanks to Manley Hot Springs and back on a 10 speed bicycle.
When did you become interested in genealogy?: - After my accident in 1985 I started to record my family files on a computer in 1987 and 1988.
Most significant genealogy accomplishment: - I copied the data from “The Knoxx Sisters Family Document” into a Family Tree Maker program file. The original document is a sheet of paper (3 feet high and 25 feet long) with handwritten names. The Knoxx Sisters traveled around the US and Alaska and compiled the hand generated document.
Other thoughts or information you wish to share: - I have lived a varied lifestyle since I got out of high school and left home. I was in San Jose California on a job relocation plan through the BIA after high school and did a lot of different jobs until I found a permanent job. I was able to travel around and do one of my favorite things, ski. I have been skiing since I was 11 years old and now that I’m 63 I can still ski. I skied Western US and Europe and have enjoyed it very much. I have also skied in several places here in Alaska and even did some fly-in skiing also. So my wish to travel and see different places and things in the world has been fulfilled. I even got to drive the Alaska Highway and ride back from Chicago, across Canada, to Fairbanks, Alaska on a motorcycle. So I really did get to travel.
